A weekly note

It’s. Still. January.

But that’s okay. I’ve been out for two walks this week. Fresh air!

I used the wrong pronoun last week.

Michelle knew we had seen Cop Car (2015) before, I wasn’t sure. Michelle was correct. 😁

After I pretended there were parallels with Cop Car and Graham Greene’s The Destructors, we watched The Courier (2020), starring Benedict Cumberbatch as a British salesman who is recruited by MI6 to spy on the Russians and I was like wait a second—is this Our Man in Havana?

It was a really well done movie.

I’m always amazed by Orion. I wish I could capture how crystal clear it appears above our house at night. It’s fun to take the trash out on Thursday night and look up and just be like—wow.

The new Pedro the Lion album is really, really good. I think I’ve listened to it at least once a day this week.

Zack suggested him to me a long while ago, but I don’t think I ever listened to more than one album. Today I started going through the back catalog and getting familiar. It’s a good time.

We got out for a nice drive on Sunday up to Palouse Divide so that A could see some mountain trees and mountain snow. Another month or so and he’ll be near ready to sit on a sled while we snowshoe, at least for a bit. Winter next year is going to be a blast.

I’ve been thinking about dropping my Pixel 3 and switching back to Apple land. The biggest reason is that I’ve actually dropped (har de har) it quite a bit over the last few years and it’s turned out to be entirely fragile. It’s easy to have that in your mind when reading about how poorly Google is doing at supporting the phone for more than a few years.

The biggest problem with switching is that Google Fi is generally great, especially when we aren’t traveling a ton. My bill is usually around $34/month and nobody is ever trying to upsell me. When I started poking around at plans from AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc… it all seems to come out to twice that amount.

My guess is that I’m not looking at it from the right angle and that I may need to get some kind of prepaid plan instead. We’ll see. I’m open to options!

Enjoy this picture of me and a tube of Kalles fish roe that Michelle took in Sweden in 2019. I like it. 😂

I ordered some a couple weeks ago to use on my homemade crisp bread. It’s intense in a good way. I need to get some of that bacon flavored cheese too.

That’s it! 🥃
