Dick Cheney Rules with Fear
Well, we already knew that part, but Cheney seems to be convinced that there has to be another attack on the United States. This time it will be with nuclear or chemical weapons:
“The biggest threat we face now as a nation is the possibility of terrorists ending up in the middle of one of our cities with deadlier weapons than have ever before been used against us – biological agents or a nuclear weapon or a chemical weapon of some kind to be able to threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans.”
Of course, I don’t really agree with that (I’m biased). I think the biggest threat we face now as a nation is pushing ourselves into a black hole of ignorance. Sooner or later, the rest of the kids on the block will find some other friends to play with, and we’ll be stuck all alone with our hotwheels. Then, when it really matters, we’ll be all alone.
What could we do instead? Try just a tad bit harder to get along with everybody so that the time that “really matters” never comes.
Pat Robertson Has the Fear
Ok, advanced warning on this one. There may not be words to express my true feelings about this “wonderful” person, keep that in mind while reading this.
Pat Robertson came out on Tuesday and explained that he had warned our President in advance that he should prepare us Americans for the likelihood of casualties. The President’s response?
“Oh, no, we’re not going to have any casualties.”
Pat Robertson then misquotes Mark Twain to explain what Bush looked like:
“You remember Mark Twain said, ‘He looks like a contented Christian with four aces.’ I mean he was just sitting there like, ‘I’m on top of the world.'”
What Mark Twain actually said is as follows:
An ethical man is a Christian holding four aces.
Either way, Pat got his point across. Bush thought that everything he was doing was the RIGHT thing to do. Pat then goes on to explain how he wishes that Bush would admit he was wrong, etc, etc… But then proceeds to say how good of a President that Bush is anyway, and how God’s blessing is on him.
So, this might not fit into the whole fear thing, because Pat Robertson is a crazy Mofo, but he definitely has the fear, and is willing to let Bush allow more “no casualty” situations in the future.
